Columbia university Pro-Palestinian protesters occupy building amid campus restrictions

Protesters supporting Palestine at Columbia University occupied Hamilton Hall in New York City, displaying banners with the word “Intifada,” meaning uprising in Arabic.

Access to the campus was restricted to residential students and essential staff due to safety concerns.

The university suspended pro-Palestinian student activists who refused to dismantle a protest camp.

Despite negotiations, the tents expressing opposition to Israel’s actions in Gaza remained.

Similar protests occurred at other universities, such as the University of Texas at Austin, where police arrested numerous students during a pro-Palestinian rally.
