‘Committee on Seeds’ meeting today

Punjab Governor Eng Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman will chair first high profile meeting of “Committee on Seeds” today to strengthen the agriculture sector on modern scientific lines to achieve food autarky and offset impending hovering threat of food insecurity.

Chairman Pakistan Hitech Hybrid Seed Association (PHHSA) Shahzad Ali Malik, Sitara-I-Imtiaz, a senior member of the committee told a delegation of progressive farmers led by Momin Ali here today he said seed committee a composition of private public sector will thrash out viable agricultural strategies for the promotion of approved quality seeds especially hybrid for getting bumper crops across the province.

He said members will share their diversified rich field experiences with Governor while public sector will also suggest the ways and means to educate the growers, farmers and cultivators for use of better quality seeds which matters in all crops worldwide.

He said private sector can play magic for evolving new varieties of hybrid seeds in collaboration with Chinese counterparts if patronised by public sector.

Other committee members included Jawed Qureshi, Dr Khalid Hameed, Tahir Saleemi, Muhammad Asim, Shafiq Ur Rehman, Muhammad Shafique, Dr Muhammad Asif Ali, Dr Abid Mahmood, Dr Anjum Ali, Dr Tassawar H Malik, Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and Dr Muhammad Saleem Haider.
