Constitutional clause bars Army from political interference, Omar Ayub

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Tafuz Constitution has raised a clarion call for a judicial inquiry into the events of May 9, emphasizing the imperative of upholding constitutional principles.

Omar Ayub, the opposition leader in the National Assembly and general secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, echoed these sentiments, stressing the need for transparency and adherence to the rule of law.

At a seminar titled “How and why to protect the Constitution of Pakistan,” organized by Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ayin-Pakistan, Ayub reaffirmed the constitutional prohibition against military interference in politics, emphasizing that only the Prime Minister holds the authority to negotiate, as enshrined in the constitution.

During the seminar, Ayub highlighted the pivotal role assigned by PTI’s founding chairman to negotiate with political entities, underscoring the unwavering commitment to constitutional supremacy. He recounted the sacrifices made by PTI in advocating for the rule of law, enduring various forms of adversity.

Refuting accusations leveled against PTI regarding the events of May 9, Ayub called for a thorough investigation into the matter. He vehemently rejected fabricated charges brought against PTI members, portraying them as part of a larger conspiracy aimed at undermining the party’s integrity and targeting its leadership.

Furthermore, Ayub demanded the public disclosure of the reports compiled by the Army Public School Commission and Abbottabad Commission, underscoring the necessity for transparency and accountability.
