Continued passport delays frustrate applicants in Multan, Lahore

The broken server at the Multan passport office is causing major headaches for the people who need passports. This issue has led to long waits and even longer lines, leaving people feeling frustrated and worried.

Despite efforts by the immigration director general to fix the situation—such as cracking down on corruption by arresting employees and agents who were charging extra fees—the problem hasn’t gone away.

People are coming from far away to the passport office, only to find out that they can’t get the services they need because the server isn’t working. This is especially stressful for those who urgently need passports for travel, work, or other important reasons.

Three staff members and 12 agents have been arrested for overcharging customers, but that hasn’t fixed the server problem. In Lahore, people who paid extra for urgent passport processing are still waiting, with some facing delays of up to four months. Technical issues like a shortage of lamination paper and limited printing capacity are making the situation even worse.

Even though officials say they’re working on the problem, people are still upset and unsure when they’ll get their passports. There’s no clear way to know how long the delays will last or what’s causing them.

People are calling on the government to find a solution to ensure they get their passports on time and to be more transparent about the delays.

Officials from the immigration and passport departments said that the system was hit hard last year due to a doubling in passport demand and not enough printing capacity to keep up.

As frustrations grow, there’s a strong need for authorities to fix the server problem and take steps to make the passport process smoother. This would help the people of Multan get the important documents they need without these long delays.
