Court postpones Fawad Chaudhry’s hearing until May 9

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has deferred the hearing of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry, granting his lawyer an extension until May 9 for case preparation.

During the session presided over by Chief Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmed Khan, Fawad Chaudhry’s request to attend proceedings via video link in 36 cases was considered.

The applicant’s legal representative argued for permission to appear in court via video link.

Chief Justice inquired about the number of districts where the cases were filed, to which the lawyer confirmed cases registered in four divisions.

Noting the substantial number of cases against him, Chief Justice questioned how Fawad Chaudhry could be present in multiple courts simultaneously, to which Fawad mentioned a total of 47 cases.

In a lighthearted exchange, Chief Justice urged Fawad Chaudhry to remain calm and desist from teasing him.

The official lawyer requested additional time to present case law due to the numerous cases involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Subsequently, the Court approved the lawyer’s plea for additional time.
