Cuba condemns genocidal acts by Israel, labeled as a terrorist state

Cuba’s president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, passionately urged an end to the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, condemning what he described as genocide committed by Israel. Expressing concern over the prolonged impunity, he reaffirmed Cuba’s unwavering support for Palestine. The Cuban Parliament echoed this sentiment, expressing solidarity with Palestinians and condemning Israel’s indiscriminate bombardments since October 7.

On December 20, Cuba’s congress unequivocally denounced the killing of thousands of Palestinians, attributing the situation to 75 years of Israeli illegal occupation and colonization practices. The declaration pointedly accused the United States government of complicity by obstructing UN Security Council actions and supporting Israel.

Despite calls from Israel’s allies to reduce military operations and protect civilians, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to persist in an all-out war against Hamas. Israel’s military campaign, initiated after a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7, has exacted a severe toll, causing extensive damage and leaving Gaza in ruins, displacing a significant population.

Local health authorities report at least 20,915 Palestinians killed, predominantly women and children, with 54,918 others injured. Gaza’s infrastructure is severely compromised, and nearly 2 million people face displacement amid acute shortages of essential resources. The conflict has also resulted in an estimated 1,200 Israelis losing their lives in the Hamas attack.
