The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and former federal minister Daniyal Aziz have jointly decided to participate in the 2024 elections as independent candidates, following the announcement of the PML-N’s list of election candidates.
Daniyal Aziz gained attention when the PML-N issued a show-cause notice to him for breaching party regulations. This was due to his posting of controversial tweets on X (formerly Twitter) and making a statement on a television channel where he held his own party leader, Ahsan Iqbal, accountable for the rise in prices.
During an appearance on a political talk show, Daniyal Aziz said that inflation poses a significant threat to the nation. He declared that both he and his wife would run as independent candidates in the election to combat the escalating prices.
Expressing discontent with his own party, the PML-N leader asserted that he was denied tickets from NA-75 because of his criticism of the surging prices and inflation during the PDM government.
This reaction from Daniyal Aziz followed the PML-N’s release of the list of election candidates for the National and Provincial assemblies across various divisions of Punjab.
