DC Islamabad served notice for not allowing PTI power show

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has taken notice of a contempt petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad.

The petition concerns the alleged refusal of permission for PTI to organize a rally in Islamabad. The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court has directed the Deputy Commissioner to provide a response by Tuesday (February 28).

It’s worth noting that the proceedings of the case were not adequately reported due to a ban imposed by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

Previously, the Islamabad district administration declined PTI’s application for a public rally to protest against alleged vote rigging in the February 8 general elections, citing security concerns.

Despite the court’s directive for the Deputy Commissioner to review the application, it was rejected on grounds of the prevailing law and order situation.

In response, PTI’s regional president Aamir Masood Mughal announced the party’s intention to approach the IHC again, asserting that if security couldn’t be ensured even in the capital, then the government had failed in its duty.
