ECP expresses serious concerns about PTI intra-party elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has raised serious concerns about the recent internal elections held by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The commission has requested a formal response from the party to address these concerns.

The PTI’s political future is at risk, as the ECP has questioned the validity of the party’s general council and central council meetings, which occurred without internal elections. The ECP wants to know how the party’s various branches are operating if they haven’t held internal elections in five years. According to the ECP, the PTI might not have a valid leadership structure or even a recognized election symbol.

Earlier, the ECP objected to the PTI’s new internal elections. Following a preliminary hearing on April 30, the PTI was instructed to submit a formal reply to the commission’s concerns. The PTI’s failure to address these issues could lead to further complications for the party.
