ECP fines 24 candidates, local government chairman for violating moral code of conduct

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has levied fines on 24 candidates and the local government chairman for violating the code of conduct governing elections.

Aqib Ismail, the candidate from NA-23 Mardan, was fined Rs 50,000, while Noorani Khan, the Awami National Party (ANP) candidate from PK-99, received a Rs 10,000 fine.

Candidate Ikram-ul-lah Ghazi from PK-39 faced a Rs 10,000 fine. These fines, submitted to the National Treasury, were enforced through the returning officers (ROs).

In PP-214, candidates Shahzad Maqbool Bhatta and Muhammad Sharif Rajput each incurred fines of Rs 15,000. Additionally, candidate Usama Gujjar from PP-282 was fined Rs 20,000.

Notably, a total of 71 notices have been issued to candidates and others across various districts for violating the model code of conduct.
