Effective border management in interest of both Pakistan, Afghanistan, Says Information Minister

The Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, acknowledged the critical connection between peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan. He highlighted the importance of effective border management and security, which serves the interests of both nations.

These remarks were made during a meeting on Tuesday with an Afghan media delegation, where various topics were discussed, including the challenges faced by Afghan journalists and visa-related issues.

Murtaza Solangi stressed that it is the media’s duty to identify those who threaten peace, enabling the government to counter them effectively. He assured the Afghan journalists that both the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would be contacted to address their visa concerns.

As a responsible nation, Pakistan is committed to ensuring that all foreigners enter the country through legal and proper channels, he affirmed.

The Afghan journalist delegation expressed their gratitude to the Federal Minister of Information for the assurance of addressing their concerns.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan has set a November 1 deadline for all illegal immigrants, including hundreds of thousands of Afghans, to either leave the country voluntarily or face forced expulsion. Pakistan has been a host to the largest number of Afghan refugees since the Soviet invasion of Kabul in 1979, with the estimated Afghan refugee population in Pakistan reaching 4.4 million.
