End of water shortage, reservoirs now at 30 million acres feet

Islamabad: Good news regarding river water has emerged due to recent rainfall.

According to the Indus Water System Authority, the reservoirs now hold 30 million acres feet of water with an increase of 2 million 20 thousand acres feet in water reserves in the past month. ARSA has given provinces a free hand in water usage.

According to an ARSA spokesperson, the water shortage has ended and provinces will receive water as per their demand. Punjab will receive 68 thousand and Sindh will receive 55 thousand cubic feet of water. KP has been provided with 2 thousand cubic feet of water according to their demand.

Rivers in Balochistan are closed for irrigation due to better cleanliness. There is currently a moderate flood in the Kabul River with a water flow of 94 thousand cubic feet at Nowshera. In the next 48 hours, water flow in the Kabul River could reach 150 thousand cubic feet.

The maximum capacity for water passage in the Kabul River is 250 thousand cubic feet.
