Exclusive driving license initiative for students announced

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi revealed plans to streamline the process of obtaining driving licenses for college and university students, eliminating the need for them to visit offices.

Instead, authorities will liaise with educational institutions to facilitate the issuance of learner and permanent licenses, easing the burden on students and saving time. Additionally, individuals aged 70 and above will receive this service at their doorstep, as part of efforts to address traffic congestion and improve road safety.

Naqvi stated a commitment to tackling various issues, including drug trafficking, encroachments, and enhancing the welfare of law enforcement personnel.

He acknowledged challenges in passport issuance, citing recent changes in leadership at the Lahore passport office to address corruption and delays. Furthermore, measures will be taken against buildings lacking adequate parking spaces to alleviate congestion.

Responding to inquiries about alleged political agreements, Naqvi stated no knowledge of such arrangements between the government and Imran Khan’s establishment.
