Facebook has approved a series of offensive ads calling for violence and genocide against Palestinians, violating its own policies, according to The Intercept.
Ads submitted in both Hebrew and Arabic contained explicit calls for violence, including “wiping out Gazan women and children” and demanding a “Holocaust for the Palestinians.”
The ads passed Facebook’s machine-based moderation filters, highlighting concerns about bias and discrimination against Palestinians on the platform.
The revelation comes after an external audit last year found that Facebook had no algorithms to detect violent Hebrew content against Arabs. The platform claimed the ads were approved accidentally and acknowledged the possibility of mistakes.
