Fawad Chaudhry expected to rejoin PTI

Former Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry might rejoin Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) soon, as internal disagreements over the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairmanship intensify. This news surfaced on Saturday.

According to party insiders, PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, has approved Fawad Chaudhry’s return. The two are expected to meet next week.

Sources also said that Fawad could be given a significant role in the party, with PTI leadership supporting his comeback.

Meanwhile, internal conflict within PTI has escalated regarding the PAC chairmanship. Party leader Sher Afzal Marwat criticized his colleague Shibli Faraz on this issue, demanding that Shibli retract his earlier statement.

Shibli told the media earlier in the day that PTI would announce its candidate for the PAC top position soon. He mentioned that Imran Khan had originally nominated Marwat for the role but changed his mind after the National Assembly speaker’s office objected to the nomination.

Shibli said that Imran now chose Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza for the role. He added that the PAC chairperson should come from Punjab and blamed the National Assembly speaker for causing confusion.

However, Sher Afzal Marwat insisted that Imran Khan had indeed nominated him for the PAC chairmanship. He claimed that Imran had mentioned his name for the role multiple times.

Marwat dismissed Shibli’s claim that SIC chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza was nominated, suggesting it was Shibli’s personal opinion, not Imran Khan’s. Marwat accused Shibli of misrepresenting Imran Khan’s intentions, stating that Imran never nominated Raza for the PAC chairmanship.
