FIA makes airport rules easier for passengers

According to a spokesperson from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the recent initiative taken by the immigration department aims to enhance passenger experience and reduce waiting times at airports, ensuring a smoother process for travelers.

The spokesperson stated that while the adjustments in regulations seek to streamline airport procedures, they will not compromise the FIA’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and maintain security measures.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had announced plans to introduce “e-gates” at major airports in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, similar to those in more developed nations. This initiative is aimed at modernizing immigration procedures and aligning them with international standards.

Airport officials have confirmed that the installation of these “e-gates” has commenced at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport, and Islamabad International Airport. The primary objective behind this installation is to expedite the immigration process for passengers, providing them with a faster and more efficient service.

With the introduction of “e-gates,” travelers will no longer have to endure long queues to obtain their boarding passes. Instead, they can swiftly acquire their boarding cards by scanning their passport and ticket at the designated e-gate terminals, eliminating unnecessary delays and inconvenience.

Furthermore, sources within the CAA have revealed that the “e-gates” utilize the biometric data stored in the passport’s chip, ensuring a secure and seamless authentication process for passengers.
