The incident happened near Wandar Dubai Mosque when a police vehicle lost control due to a tire burst, causing a crash that killed five officers and injured three others. The injured were taken to District Headquarters Hospital.
In a separate incident, three police officers were injured in a hand grenade attack on their vehicle in the Sachal area of Karachi.
The SSP said that a hand grenade was thrown at the police vehicle, but no deaths were reported.
Earlier, unidentified men threw a hand grenade at SSP Hussain Lehri’s squad in Dera Murad Jamali, Naseerabad. The grenade exploded as the SSP was returning from patrol, but no one was injured.
The police, CTD, and bomb disposal squad secured the area after the explosion.
