Five terrorists killed, captain, soldier martyred in Peshawar gun fight: ISPR

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that Captain Hussain Jahangir, 25, from Rahim Yar Khan district, and Havaldar Shafiq Ullah, 36, from Karak district, were martyred during a recent military operation.

The operation resulted in the deaths of at least five terrorists and injuries to three others. Following the engagement, a sanitization operation was conducted to ensure no remaining terrorists were in the area.

“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR statement emphasized.

This operation comes in the context of a rise in terrorist activities across Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, following the end of a ceasefire by the outlawed militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in November 2022.

Previously, on April 9, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in South Waziristan, KP, resulting in the deaths of two terrorists. These individuals were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the region. During the operation, security personnel also recovered weapons and a significant quantity of explosives from the deceased terrorists.
