Former actor-cum-model Zainab Jamil survives ‘murder attempt’

Former actor and model Zainab Jamil sustained serious injuries after surviving a gun attack by masked men on her vehicle in Lahore’s DHA Phase IV, Geo News reported on Friday.

Jamil, who gained fame from the first season of the drama “Khuda Aur Muhabbat,” was hit by six bullets when two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired heavily at her vehicle as she was on her way to her salon on Wednesday.

The attackers fled the scene. Jamil was immediately taken to a hospital in critical condition but survived the attempt on her life.

After regaining consciousness, she recorded a statement revealing that she had been receiving murder threats and a threat letter had been posted to her salon.

She stated that she did not know the attackers but believed it was a planned attack, as the gunmen seemed fully prepared to target her vehicle en route to her salon.

Police have lodged a case against two unidentified men following a complaint from Jamil’s uncle.

Authorities recovered a pistol and a motorcycle from the crime scene and are tracing the culprits using Safe City cameras, expecting to make arrests soon.

In addition to “Khuda Aur Muhabbat,” Zainab Jamil worked on several projects including “Sada Sukhi Raho,” “Sasural Meri Behen Ka,” “Mannchali,” and “Aap Ki Kaneez.”

She announced a break from showbiz in December 2020 to live in accordance with Islamic teachings and learn more about Islam.
