Government adopts ‘zero tolerance’ policy on power theft to fulfill IMF requirement

The Power Division has instructed all electricity distribution companies (Discos) to obtain affidavits from their officers and staff confirming no electricity theft.

A circular issued by the Power Division warns that Disco officials and staff could face dismissal if electricity theft is proven in their areas.

Officials from the Power Division stated that the IMF has requested strict measures to combat power theft.
