Government authorizes compensation for family of missing person, South High Court informed

Despite being summoned by the high court, Sindh’s home secretary failed to appear before the court. The deputy secretary of the Sindh Home Department informed the court that the home secretary was busy in a session of the apex committee at the Chief Minister House.

The court was informed that the summary for compensation to the family of missing person Sameer Afridi had been approved and that the relatives would receive the compensation soon.

The high court bench ordered immediate payment of compensation to the family of the disappeared citizen and instructed that the provincial task force and JIT sessions should continue. The bench also mandated the use of modern technology to trace the missing individual.

The court adjourned further hearings of the case until May 31. A bench of the Sindh High Court issued orders for the payment of compensation to the families of missing persons.

The government counsel confirmed that the provincial government would provide compensation to verified missing persons and that a summary had been forwarded to the chief minister of Sindh regarding this matter, as stated by the home department’s focal person in court.
