Hamas accuses Israel of sabotaging ceasefire

Hamas issued a statement expressing concern that Israel’s military incursion at the Rafah crossing is aimed at disrupting ongoing ceasefire negotiations.

The statement from Hamas criticized Israel’s decision to close the Rafah and Kerem Shalom border crossings, accusing Israel of leading the region towards a disaster and perpetuating policies of deprivation and persecution against Palestinians.

Hamas, which had accepted a three-phase ceasefire proposal from Egyptian and Qatari mediators, also called for international intervention to pressure Israel into agreeing to a ceasefire. They specifically held the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden and the international community accountable for allowing the conflict to persist.
