Heavy rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa claims lives of 10 individuals and leaves 14 injured

In the wake of recent heavy rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, tragic incidents have claimed the lives of 10 individuals while leaving 14 others injured, as reported by the provincial disaster management authority.

Among the deceased, there were 6 men, 2 women, and 2 children, while the injured comprised 5 men, 2 women, and 7 children.

The havoc wreaked by the thunderstorms also resulted in significant property damage, with 56 houses, rooftops, and walls being affected by lightning strikes. Of these, 51 houses sustained temporary damage, while 5 were completely destroyed.

The affected areas span across various districts including Bajaur, Swat, Mansehra, Bitgram, Dir, Lower Malakand, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Orakzai, Shangla, Derapar, Buner, Lower Chitral, Nowshera, and Mohmand.

In response to the crisis, the provincial authorities have mobilized relief efforts, with district administration teams actively engaged in providing assistance. Moreover, efforts are underway to reopen highways that were closed due to the adverse weather conditions.
