Hezbollah fires rockets at Israel after south Lebanon strike kills 4 members of family

According to security sources, an Israeli airstrike tragically claimed the lives of four family members in a border village in southern Lebanon on Sunday. The victims were identified as Fadi Hounaikah, Maya Ali Ammar, and their sons Mohammed, aged 21, and Ahmad, aged 12.

In response to this attack, Hezbollah launched Katyusha rockets towards the northern Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona, which is situated close to the Lebanese border.

The family had returned to their properties in Mays Al-Jabal during a period of reduced hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel. Tragically, while they were gathering groceries from their supermarket, an Israeli military drone spotted them and launched an attack, resulting in the destruction of the area and the loss of all family members. Several civilians in the vicinity were also injured in the attack.

The security source further explained that the villages in the area had been abandoned by residents seven months ago. He emphasized the constant danger posed by Israeli reconnaissance planes and drones, making it risky for people to enter these border villages.

Hezbollah responded to the incident by launching dozens of Katyusha and Falaq missiles at Israel, citing it as retaliation for the tragedy in Mays Al-Jabal.

In the ensuing escalation, missiles struck buildings in Kiryat Shmona, causing a power outage, as reported by the Israeli Upper Galilee Regional Council and Israeli Army Radio.
Israeli airstrikes targeted villages in southern Lebanon, while artillery shelling hit other areas. Amidst this violence, Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi called for an end to the conflict in southern Lebanon, denouncing the destruction and suffering inflicted on innocent civilians.

Mohammed Raad, leader of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc, criticized Western support for Israel, accusing them of aiding Israel in committing crimes. He affirmed Hezbollah’s readiness to confront Israel and protect their homeland at any cost.
