Recent findings from medical experts have highlighted a concerning trend high blood pressure in children can increase the risk of stroke by up to four times. According to research conducted on a global scale, it is estimated that one out of every 15 children and adolescents is affected by hypertension posing a significant health threat.

To understand the long-term effects of this condition, researchers compared 25,605 children and adolescents diagnosed with hypertension between 1996 and 2021 with those who did not have this issue. After a 13-year examination, it was revealed that individuals with hypertension experienced two to four times higher risks of heart attacks, heart failure, stroke or heart surgery compared to their counterparts without the condition.

These findings underscore the importance of screening and controlling blood pressure in children to mitigate the risks of long-term cardiac diseases. By enhancing blood pressure screening and control measures in hypertensive children, the risks of serious cardiac ailments in later life can be significantly reduced, according to researchers.

In light of these results, experts emphasize the need to prioritize blood pressure screening and treatment in childhood to mitigate the risks of serious cardiac conditions in adulthood. This proactive approach can play a crucial role in safeguarding the cardiovascular health of future generations.
