High court orders dismissal of petition against suspension of X

Lahore- The Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition filed against the suspension of the social media app X (Twitter) by the Registrar Office.

Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan of the Lahore High Court heard the petition filed by Hafiz Shakir Mahmood against the suspension of the social media app X (Twitter). The court has ordered to hear the petition.

The petition against the suspension of the social media app X (Twitter) included the federal government among others as parties.

The petitioner argued that constitutionally, the freedom of any citizen cannot be infringed and shutting down X (Twitter) is tantamount to depriving people of their freedom and fundamental rights.

The petitioner requested the court to immediately order the reopening of X’s services.
