High Court summons officials after kidnapping of South Waziristan sessions judge in Tank

The Sessions Judge of South Waziristan, Shakirullah Marwat, was abducted by unidentified individuals in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The incident occurred at the Graha Mohabbate Ada junction, leaving behind the judge’s gunman and vehicle, as confirmed by police sources. Prompt action was taken, with the District Police Officer (DPO) of Tank swiftly deploying personnel to the scene upon receiving the report.

The abduction sparked immediate attention from Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who swiftly directed Inspector General Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur to initiate urgent measures for the judge’s recovery. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the provincial authorities were summoned to the Peshawar High Court, including the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inspector General of Police, and the Additional Chief Secretary Home.

In a subsequent meeting chaired by Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, senior judges emphasized the government’s responsibility to ensure the security of judges and urged relentless efforts towards the judge’s safe recovery.

During the session, authorities provided a briefing on the progress made thus far in response to the abduction. The judiciary stressed the critical importance of expeditious action and underscored the need for meticulous attention to detail in the recovery efforts.
