IHC dismisses baseless campaign against Justice Babar Sattar

In an official statement released by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the court categorically dismissed the unfounded allegations circulating on social media regarding Justice Satar’s green card status and clarified that the former Chief Justice was fully informed about Justice Satar’s background, including his green card, at the time of his appointment.

After assuming the position of a judge, Justice Satar’s children acquired Pakistani citizenship, and his mother has been involved in educational endeavors by operating a school since 1992. It was reiterated by the IHC that Justice Satar exclusively holds Pakistani citizenship, with no affiliations to any other country.

A malicious and unwarranted campaign targeting Justice Satar has been identified on social media, where personal details, including travel documents of his wife and children, are being spread and circulated relentlessly.

According to the IHC’s official statement, Justice Satar completed his legal studies at prestigious institutions like Oxford University and Harvard Law School. His exceptional qualifications led to him being granted a permanent US residency card, which he voluntarily surrendered in 2005 upon his return to Pakistan.

It is worth noting that on December 28, 2020, the appointments of Babar Sattar and Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri as judges at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) were duly approved by then-President Arif Alvi.
