Experts at the World Health Organization (WHO) and several leading scientists have said that due to the devastating wave of Covid-19 in China it seemed impossible to end the status of a global emergency soon.

Experts expressed this opinion when the zero Covid policy was abolished recently after public protests from China. Experts have also expressed concern that the sudden change in the zero Covid policy could result in more than one million deaths in China in 2023 as a result of the disease.

According to the experts, China’s zero Covid policy helped keep new cases and deaths low in the country of 1.4 billion people but the easing of restrictions also changed the global scenario.

In most countries of the world, Covid restrictions were lifted in 2022 as the number of cases decreased significantly.

Recommendations regarding the emergency alert level will be made by the WHO committee at the end of January 2023. On December 20, Five Covid deaths were reported in China while no deaths were reported on December 21.

A study by the University of Washington has shown fears that china could have more than a million covid-19 deaths in 2023 after authorities lifted a number of Covid-prevention restrictions. Research has shown that the next few months can prove to be very difficult for China.
