Interim bail extended for Swati in controversial tweets case

Special Judge Central in Islamabad has granted an extension to PTI leader Azam Swati’s interim bail until May 15 regarding a case related to a controversial tweet. During the proceedings, Judge Humayun Dilawar stated the importance of orderly conduct in the court.

Lawyer Ali Bukhari clarified that the legal representatives present were his juniors, not from the International Legal Foundation. The judge reiterated the necessity for relevant lawyers to present their arguments. Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi expressed concerns over Azam Swati’s alleged misuse of judicial leniency and indicated a need for further instructions from his client.

Following these deliberations, Azam Swati’s interim bail was extended. Speaking to the media afterward, Swati voiced uncertainty about PTI’s future decisions, stating the importance of the rule of law and institutional integrity. He called for accountability and transparency in the electoral process and urged those with evidence of wrongdoing to act with moral courage.
