Islamabad DC denies PTI rally request citing ‘law and order concerns’

The Islamabad deputy commissioner (DC) has refused permission for a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally scheduled for March 30 in the federal capital. This decision comes amidst concerns regarding the law and order situation, with the DC highlighting alleged violations of previously issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) by PTI.

The request for the rally was submitted by Regional President Amir Masood Mughal, prompting the Islamabad High Court to direct the DC to make a decision within two days.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq addressed the matter, submitting a report to the Islamabad High Court within the specified timeframe. The PTI had petitioned the court to order the rally’s approval, scheduled for 10 pm on March 30 in Islamabad.

In their petition, PTI emphasized the need for road closures during the event and urged the court to ensure the safety of participants by prohibiting any violent actions against them.
