Israel’s Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi stated on Tuesday that the army is now more ready to attack Iranian nuclear facilities.

According to Kochavi, who gave a speech for the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies, “the level of preparedness for an operation in Iran has drastically improved.”

He asserted that if the army is directed to take action against Iran’s nuclear program, “it will complete the mission it is assigned.”

Kochavi claimed that Iran wants to send “thousands of Shia militiamen” as well as hundreds of missiles to Syria.

According to the army chief, Israel was able to thwart Iran’s plan to “create a second Hezbollah in Syria.”

Israel routinely accuses Tehran of taking advantage of the protracted turmoil in Syria, where Iran backs the Assad government, to build a permanent military outpost close to its border.

Israel occasionally conducts airstrikes against the Syrian government and Iranian military in different Syrian provinces.

Usually, Israel doesn’t respond to such attacks. However, the declarations made by its top officials frequently reaffirm their efforts to “limit” Iranian influence in Syria.
