Israeli airstrikes continue in Gaza, death toll rises

Israel continued its airstrikes and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, resulting in numerous Palestinian casualties, including civilians and medical personnel.

Palestinian officials reported that Israeli strikes in Gaza City’s Al-Shejaia suburb and the Al-Maghazi refugee camp killed a significant number of people.

Among the casualties were ten policemen who were assisting displaced individuals in northern Gaza.

The Israeli military stated that its operations near Gaza City’s Al Shifa hospital aimed to target militants while minimizing harm to civilians and medical facilities.

Additionally, Israeli forces conducted raids in other areas, engaging in clashes with Palestinian gunmen.

In Khan Younis, Hamas claimed to have targeted Israeli forces near Nasser Hospital. In Rafah, airstrikes on residential areas caused further fatalities.

The ongoing conflict has led to a significant death toll, with thousands killed since October, including 71 in the past 24 hours.

Many Gazans have been displaced, facing the risk of famine, especially in the northern region.

The United Nations has warned of imminent famine in Gaza and urged Israel to ensure access to food supplies.

Philippe Lazzarini, head of UNRWA, emphasized the urgency of addressing the humanitarian crisis, calling on Israel to permit UNRWA’s food convoys to reach northern Gaza regularly.

However, Israel has reportedly denied several requests for such convoys, exacerbating the dire situation in the region.
