Israeli army in West Bank uses Palestinian detainee as human shield

A video circulating on social media on Friday revealed the Israeli military employing a Palestinian detainee as a human shield in the southern Occupied West Bank, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

The footage depicts the blindfolded detainee seated on the ground, with military vehicles positioned behind him, effectively using him as a shield, while an Israeli soldier aims a rifle at a group of Palestinians.

According to eyewitnesses who reported the incident to Anadolu, this occurrence occurred early on Friday in the Fawwar refugee camp near Hebron in the southern Occupied West Bank.

The Israeli military conducted a raid on the camp, resulting in the arrest of several individuals and sparking confrontations with numerous Palestinians.

Since the eruption of the Gaza conflict, Palestinian figures indicate that at least 173 Palestinians have lost their lives, and 2,300 others have been injured by Israeli army actions in the Occupied Territory. Preceding the Gaza conflict, Palestinian estimates put the number of detainees in Israeli jails at approximately 5,200.

Tensions have remained elevated across the West Bank since the onset of hostilities on October 7th between Palestinian groups and Israel in the Gaza Strip.
