Israeli citizens block aid trucks from going into Gaza

Protesters in Israel have obstructed humanitarian aid trucks from entering Gaza through the Karem Abu Salem border crossing on both Thursday and Friday. This blockade has prevented much-needed supplies, including flour, food, tents, and hygiene items, from reaching the war-torn territory. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) expressed deep concern, emphasizing that the inability to deliver essential items like food, water, and medical aid will worsen the already dire humanitarian situation for those in need of assistance.

In its latest situation report, UNOCHA highlighted a troubling trend, noting a declining accessibility by Israel to northern and central areas of Gaza for the delivery of humanitarian aid supplies in the second half of January. This obstruction raises serious concerns about the well-being of the population in Gaza, already grappling with the consequences of the conflict.

During the same period of Thursday to Friday afternoon, the UN reported further devastating impacts on Gaza’s population. Israeli forces carried out attacks from the air, land, and sea, resulting in the death of 183 Palestinians and injuring 377 others. These developments underscore the urgency for humanitarian assistance and the challenges faced in delivering aid to those affected by the ongoing conflict in the region.
