IUB Seraiki department head Dr Mir Javed Hassan Chandio retires

BAHAWALPUR: Prof Dr. Mir Javed Hassan Chandio, the esteemed chairman of the Saraiki Department and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages at the Islamic University of Bahawalpur has gracefully concluded his tenure, marking a distinguished career in academia. Throughout his service, he not only activated the chair but also assumed additional responsibilities as a director, demonstrating exemplary dedication to his role.

Dr Chandio, a luminary in the field, took practical and noteworthy measures to promote the Saraiki language and literature. His pivotal role in securing approval for Saraiki subjects in college seats underscored his commitment to the academic advancement of the language. As the convener of the curriculum for Matric and Inter Classes at the Board, he contributed to the academic landscape.

The Baghdad Al-Jedid Campus Auditorium, now named Khawaja Ghulam Farid Auditorium, stands as a testament to his leadership in academic initiatives. Moreover, Dr Chandio played a crucial role in championing the restoration of fundamental financial rights for several Saraiki poets, including the esteemed Dr Shakir Shujaabadi.

Beyond his administrative prowess, Dr Chandio is a prolific author, with expertise spanning culture, art, geography, translation, music, and archaeology. His literary contributions have left an indelible mark on various subjects, showcasing his multidimensional intellectual capacity.
In alignment with his familial legacy, reminiscent of his father Mir Hasan Al-Haidari Chandio, Dr. Chandio consistently demonstrated a profound love for the people of his country. His philosophy, instilled in hundreds of students, emphasized values of respect and peace.
