Jamaat-e-Islami announces movement for constitutional supremacy after Eid

Jamaat-e-Islami has declared its intention to launch a movement advocating for the supremacy of the constitution following Eid-ul-Adha.

Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, addressed the media alongside party leaders in Mansoora after a two-day meeting of the Central Majlis Shura. Highlighting Pakistan’s enduring challenges, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman emphasized the nation’s 76-year struggle under various forms of subjugation.

He lamented the dominance of an elite class that hindered the country’s progress and stressed the need for all institutions to operate within their prescribed limits. Concerns were raised regarding Pakistan’s foreign policy, particularly regarding negotiations related to Kashmir, with suspicions cast on alleged efforts to align with Indian interests at the expense of national sovereignty.

Moreover, the issue of Gaza was underscored as a humanitarian crisis, with calls for a more assertive stance at the international level. Stressing the pivotal role of constitutional supremacy in ensuring the country’s stability, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman announced plans for a significant movement post Eid to uphold constitutional principles. Additionally, the importance of completing the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project was emphasized to alleviate the country’s energy woes and reduce dependence on costly imports.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman concluded by expressing disdain for proposed taxes and policies dictated by external entities, advocating for a government responsive to the needs and aspirations of the Pakistani populace.
