Julen Lopetegui leads West Ham after Moyes leaves

West Ham United announced the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as their new head coach on Thursday.

Lopetegui, 57, who previously managed Wolverhampton Wanderers, will start his tenure at the London Stadium on July 1, succeeding David Moyes.

Having been without a club since leaving Wolves before the Premier League season, Lopetegui is excited for the new challenge. “We came here with the idea of making a big noise,” he said. “We are excited by this challenge and will do our best to help the club achieve its goals. The fans will be key to our success.”

West Ham’s joint-chairman, David Sullivan, praised Lopetegui’s arrival, stating that it would “ensure a strong opportunity to build on the positive progress made in recent seasons.” The Hammers finished ninth in the 2023–24 Premier League season and aim for further success under new leadership.
