K-Electric prepares to implode electricity prices once again

Islamabad: K-Electric has geared up once again to explode electricity prices on consumers.

After increasing electricity prices to Rs. 3.83 per unit, K-Electric has requested an additional increase of Rs. 2.98 per unit in transmission tariff.

The request for the increase is based on various components of the tariff including operation and maintenance costs, working capital, cost of debt and cost of equity.

Multi-year tariff has been proposed by K-Electric for the period from fiscal year 2024-2025 to fiscal year 2028-2029 and NEPRA has sought opinions from relevant stakeholders on the application.

According to a spokesperson for K-Electric, the requested increase of Rs. 18.86 per unit is also for fuel cost adjustment which will not be applied to consumers bills directly.
