Karachi extends rangers deployment by 6 months

Karachi will have Rangers on duty for another six months. The Sindh government has given its approval for the extension.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah agreed to the extension at a provincial cabinet meeting on Thursday. The Sindh Rangers will continue to operate with powers under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The cabinet also decided to set up a governing body instead of an Overseas Committee in the Sindh Building Control Authority. Additionally, it approved four new members for the Thar Coal and Energy Board: Shazia Mari, Education Minister Sardar Shah, Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro, and Karni Singh.

A spokesperson said the cabinet exempted a plot in North Nazimabad from stamp duty. This plot, measuring 45,371 square yards, is where the Bohri community plans to build a university.
