Laapataa Ladies surpasses Animal on Netflix

Kiran Rao’s “Laapataa Ladies” has surprisingly garnered more Netflix views than Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal,” much to the delight of those critical of Ranbir.

The comedic tale of two women who accidentally switch places at a train station after their wedding, “Laapataa Ladies” premiered in theaters on March 1 before arriving on Netflix.

According to Firstpost, the Aamir Khan film has amassed 13.8 million views on the streaming platform.

In contrast, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s globally successful “Animal” reached 13.6 million views within its first three weeks on Netflix but fell out of the top 10 in the fourth week.

Since its OTT release, “Laapataa Ladies,” featuring Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan in pivotal roles, has been well-received, particularly in the UK.

The film has been praised by both critics and audiences for its intricate portrayal of relationships and its unconventional take on partnerships.

The engaging storyline and rich character development have resonated emotionally with viewers.

One viewer remarked, “It’s become very popular in the UK. All my local friends loved it. They have only watched movies like Bahubali.

So proud when they talk about ‘Laapataa Ladies’.” Another user shared similar sentiments, stating, “This movie deserves all the attention.”

While “Animal” stars one of Bollywood’s biggest actors, Ranbir Kapoor, known for his star power, the action-drama sparked controversy over its depiction of toxic behavior.

Ranbir defended the film’s themes, suggesting that the characters were designed to provoke discussion and debate.
