Lahore and Karachi regional passport offices launch 24/7 operations

The Ministry has announced that the regional passport office in Garden Town, Lahore, will now be accessible to the public around the clock, while the regional passport office at Awami Markaz in Karachi will operate 24 hours a day.

Services will be available in three shifts at these regional offices, providing greater convenience for citizens seeking passport-related assistance.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi shared on social media that this move aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for citizens accessing passport services.

This initiative is anticipated to significantly ease the workload on existing passport offices and reduce waiting times for applicants.

Furthermore, efforts are underway to address the backlog of over 800,000 pending passports through the procurement of new machinery and lamination paper.

Currently, the Passport and Immigration authorities are processing 20-25,000 passports daily, despite receiving 40-45,000 applications.

Earlier reports highlighted unusual delays in passport issuance, affecting over 550,000 applicants, with wait times stretching to two to three months.
