Lahore CCPO orders action against online betting during Pakistan vs NZ match

Lahore’s law enforcement officials are taking decisive measures against online gambling and betting activities during the ongoing T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand.

The Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Bilal Siddique Kamyana, has instructed concerned authorities to conduct targeted raids to apprehend individuals engaged in online betting and to closely monitor applications and social media platforms promoting such activities.

According to the official, a total of 423 cases related to gambling have been registered this year, resulting in the arrest of 1,863 individuals and the recovery of over Rs5.4 million.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is hosting New Zealand for the final T20I of the five-match series at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium today (Saturday), aiming to conclude the series positively.

With losses in their previous two matches, Pakistan faces a crucial moment despite fielding a full-strength squad, trailing the five-match series 2-1 against a relatively inexperienced New Zealand side.

Although the series victory seems out of reach, Pakistan will strive to salvage a draw by winning the last match, keeping in mind the impending T20 World Cup 2024.

While the possibility of leveling the series remains, Pakistan will field their best XI, emphasizing the importance of avoiding defeat with the T20 World Cup on the horizon.
