‘Lala’ Shahid Afridi thanks ICC on becoming ambassador for T20 World Cup

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi expressed his gratitude to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for appointing him as an ambassador for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Afridi wrote, “Grateful and honored to be on board as the exclusive brand ambassador for T20 World Cup from Pakistan.

Thank you ICC for this amazing opportunity. Looking forward to promoting the spirit of cricket and cheering on our team!”

Earlier today, Afridi was appointed as the latest ambassador for the eagerly anticipated ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to generate excitement across the West Indies and the USA.

Afridi joins a distinguished group of ambassadors that includes cricket greats like Indian maestro Yuvraj Singh, the dynamic Chris Gayle, and the legendary sprinter Usain Bolt, adding his own illustrious legacy to the mix.

Afridi is renowned for his crucial role in Pakistan’s journey to the inaugural T20 World Cup final in 2007 and their victorious campaign in 2009, making his association with the tournament deeply significant.

Reflecting on his fond memories from past tournaments, Afridi expressed his enthusiasm for his role as an ambassador in the upcoming edition.
