Large-scale cardiology hospital to be established in Lahore

On Wednesday, Punjab’s Chief Minister, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, announced the approval of a new large-scale cardiology hospital in the city. This decision came in response to the difficulties patients and families have faced at Lahore’s Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) due to overcrowding.

Located next to Jinnah Hospital, the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology will be built on land that was previously designated for Jinnah Hospital’s Emergency and Trauma Center. The trauma center will be integrated into the existing Jinnah Hospital, as directed by the CM during his site visit.

The secretary of construction and communications informed the CM during the briefing that the new institute, which will be the second largest cardiac hospital in Lahore after PIC, will be a seven-story structure with a capacity of 250 beds. The chief minister also established a timeline, directing that the foundation for the new cardiology institute be laid by the middle of November.

Among those in attendance, provincial ministers Dr. Javed Akram and Amir Mir, as well as health secretaries, the principal of Allama Iqbal Medical Hospital, and the superintendent of Jinnah Hospital were present at the event.
