LCCI urges PM to deliver, terms coalition government’s performance unsatisfactory

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to deliver fast for putting the economy in the right direction while terming the performance of current coalition government as unsatisfactory.

LCCI President Mian Nauman Kabir has said that the PM did not come up to their expectations, further adding that he was unable to deliver due to the much deteriorated condition of country’s economy.

Speaking to journalists at a press conference on “Evolution of Social, Political, and Economic Order, Past, Present, and Future of Pakistan” event, different LCCI office bearers also raised concerns over the economic condition of Pakistan.

They said that not only the government alone but also the bureaucracy has been responsible for creating the mess in the country. They said that the political stability and inconsistent economic policies worsened the situation since 2016 followed by a budget deficit in 2017-2018.

Mian Rizwan Aziz Chan, speaking at the occasion, said that the civil establishment did not devise long-term policies for stabilization of economy.

LCCI office bearers, while raising concerns, said that at present Pakistan had been facing the worst ever economic condition in its overall history. They also deplored the imposition and receipt of fuel price adjustments with effect from June.
