Lionel Messi inspires Inter Miami’s thrilling comeback against New England Revolution

Lionel Messi once again demonstrated his scoring prowess in the MLS, scoring twice to lead Inter Miami to a remarkable 4-1 comeback win against the New England Revolution.

Despite an early setback for Miami, with Tomas Chancalay of New England finding the net just 40 seconds into the game, Messi’s brilliance was evident throughout.

Playing in front of a crowd of over 65,612 at Gillette Stadium, Messi didn’t disappoint the eager fans.

His first goal, in the 32nd minute, came from a precise pass by Robert Taylor, showcasing his deadly finishing skills.

But Messi wasn’t finished yet. In the 68th minute, he capitalized on a sublime assist from former Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets to give Miami the lead.

As the game progressed, Messi continued to dictate the tempo, creating chances for his teammates.

Substitute Benjamin Cremaschi extended Miami’s lead to 3-1 in the 83rd minute after Messi’s shot was saved, and Luis Suarez sealed the victory with a clinical finish, thanks to a pass from Messi.

Miami’s recent success, including three consecutive wins following their exit from the CONCACAF Champions Cup, reflects Coach Gerardo Martino’s vision of a cohesive team.

Martino praised the squad’s resilience, particularly after their setback against Monterrey, highlighting their growing unity.

Meanwhile, New England coach Caleb Porter acknowledged Messi’s impact, regretting his defenders’ errors that allowed Messi to capitalize on crucial moments.

Despite limiting Messi’s involvement early on, Porter recognized Messi’s ability to seize opportunities when given space, attributing Miami’s success to his brilliance.

In other MLS action, Christian Benteke stole the spotlight for D.C. United with a brace in their 2-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders, while Real Salt Lake claimed the top spot in the Western Conference by handing the Philadelphia Union their first defeat of the season.
