Maryam Nawaz visits jail, cell picture breaks internet

Internet is breaking with reaction after Punjab Minister Maryam Nawaz posted the picture of the Kot Lakhpat Cell of Lahore where her father, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, was detained during the Usman Buzdar government in corruption cases.

On her X handle, Maryam Nawaz posted: Emotional moment to see the cell MNS, a three times PM was kept in.

    She wrote:
“I was in the same jail but I was never allowed to visit him. Got to see it today. He’s Masha’Allah a king-maker today while the oppressors are nowhere.”
The picture of the cell posted on March 17 at 8:37pm has got 312,600 views. What is surprising in the picture is the tiled, clean squeaky cell in which Nawaz Sharif was lodged.
Journalist Shahid Aslam tweeted in comment:

“ It was cruel treatment to a former PM then. But, as you say madam ‘oppressors are no where’? I think ‘oppressors’s offspring are all around you madam!” He left it to the readers to guess the oppressors’ offspring around her. Perhaps he is pointing fingers towards the establishment.

    Uzaira Shah tweeted:
“They plan, and Allah plans. Surely, Allah is the Best of planners.”

    Sharin Kausar commented:
She should go and visit the squeaky clean toilets to see if they have kept them how she has left them (squeaky clean)

This was reference to Maryam Nawaz’s comment in a television talk show interview in which the anchor asked her about jail experience. She replied that she left the toilets of her cell “squeaky clean”.
The moral of the story is that the public has sharp memory.
