Mayor Karachi urges PM’s intervention in Karachi’s traffic woes

Mayor Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, in a plea addressed to Shahbaz Sharif, has implored the Prime Minister to intervene in the traffic management of Karachi, drawing parallels to the transformation witnessed in Lahore under the Prime Minister’s leadership.

Highlighting the dire situation, Wahab underscored the congestion and chaos plaguing key areas of Karachi, particularly along MA Jinnah Road from Exhibition Chowrangi to Municipal Park Jama Cloth Market.

He pointed out the challenges exacerbated by the incomplete Green Line project, originally slated for completion by the Sindh Infrastructure Company. Additionally, Wahab shed light on the complications stemming from the ban on heavy traffic on Lyari Expressway, impacting the inner city.

Experts have suggested permitting heavy traffic on the expressway, including access to and from Karachi port, to alleviate congestion.
