Microsoft introduces AI-powered ‘Copy-Paste’ feature

California: With the rapid advancement in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, Microsoft has now integrated AI capabilities into one of the most frequently used computer functions copy-paste.

Microsoft has added an AI-based copy-paste feature to its PowerToys app. During a recent event, the company made several announcements but this new feature will not be available in the standard version of Windows 11. Instead, it will be part of the optional PowerToys app.

For those who may not be familiar, PowerToys is an optional app that includes a variety of tools. This new tool named Advanced Paste leverages ChatGPT to analyze your text.

To use this tool, you need to link your OpenAI account to PowerToys. Once activated, the feature offers several options including summarizing text, translating text, generating code, transforming text and stylizing text.

Even if you don’t have an OpenAI account, Advanced Paste will still provide you with three options: Paste as Plain Text, Paste as Markdown and Paste as JSON. These options do not utilize AI technology.

By integrating AI into the copy-paste functionality, Microsoft aims to enhance productivity and streamline text processing tasks offering users advanced capabilities directly within their workflow.
